Congratulations Magnus Kitchemonia of Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug

Wataynikaneyap Power would like to congratulate Magnus Kitchemonia of Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug (KI), one of the 24 Participating First Nations on his recent graduation. Magnus began his career around 2021 through the Ganawenjigewin Environmental Training Program, delivered in partnership with Opiikapawiin Services LP and Wataynikaneyap Power. Following the program, he continued to build his experience with Giiwedin Environmental Services: a Limited Partnership between Lac Des Mille Lacs First Nation (one of Wataynikaneyap Power’s 24 First Nation majority owners) and NorthWinds Environmental Services.

Since then, Magnus has earned a college diploma in Forestry and, most recently, graduated from Lakehead University on May 28 with a Bachelor of Science in Forestry. Although he was unable to attend his graduation ceremony due to a knee injury, he has remained committed to his work and continues in his role with Giiwedin.

We are proud to share Magnus’s story of dedication and achievement. Through his work with Giiwedin, he contributes to the Wataynikaneyap Power transmission system—and as a member of a Participating First Nation, he is also an owner of Wataynikaneyap Power LP. We look forward to seeing his continued success and hope he remains a strong piece of the Wataynikaneyap Power journey towards the 2049 Vision.
