WPPM Employee Recognized by Ontario Energy Association

Wataynikaneyap Power is pleased to congratulate Jordan Davidson, Manager, Operations on his recent recognition from the Ontario Energy Association (OEA). On October 13, 2026, Jordan received the OEA Outstanding Employee Award, which celebrates employees who demonstrate leadership, initiative, expertise, and outstanding contributions to Ontario’s energy sector.

Since joining Wataynikaneyap Power PM Inc. (WPPM) in 2021, and earning his P.Eng. designation in 2022, Jordan has brought initiative and innovation to his role. He has been a key member of the team establishing a strong operational foundation for the transmission system. Recently, he helped develop the capital and maintenance requirements for Wataynikaneyap Power’s first five-year rate application to the Ontario Energy Board. This work was critical, as the Wataynikaneyap Power transmission system is one of Ontario’s newest, largest, and most remote utilities.

Jordan also helped develop an innovative wildfire tracking tool for the organization in 2025. Recognizing the growing risks posed by wildfire activity in Northwestern Ontario, this system provides real-time visibility into fire activity near transmission assets and communities.

Jordan’s strengths extend beyond technical expertise. He is dedicated to the vision and mandate of Wataynikaneyap Power, an Indigenous-led utility that is majority owned by 24 First Nations, with the remaining 49% ownership held by Fortis Inc. and other private investors. First Nations led the development of Wataynikaneyap Power to connect remote communities to reliable grid power, while reducing reliance on diesel generation. FortisOntario Inc., through WPPM, acts as Project Manager.

During regular team visits to remote First Nations across northwestern Ontario, Jordan provides operational updates and answers questions. He explains complex technical information in a way that is clear, respectful, and meaningful to community members and leadership alike. Jordan has the patience and ability to build trust working relationships with the leaders and People of the Participating First Nations.

Jordan is also passionate about supporting future generations and regularly participates in career fairs and youth engagement events. He is well- known throughout the organization for sharing his knowledge and helping build capacity within the operations team. He is an example role model for workforce development and capacity building.

This recognition for Jordan is very well-deserved,” said CEO Margaret Kenequanash. “Jordan’s dedication to the First Nations’ vision has made a lasting impact on Wataynikaneyap and the transmission system. Watching this young Indigenous person grow in his role and take on new challenges with enthusiasm has been very rewarding. On behalf of the First Nations owners and leadership, we acknowledge Jordan for his success in becoming the OEA Outstanding Employee. Congratulations!”
